Free check · asks Perplexity live, or Claude if it is unavailable

Free Perplexity visibility checker

Perplexity searches the web for its answers and shows the pages it used. We ask it three questions your buyers research and show whether it named you, linked your site and who it cited instead.

The words a buyer researches: "noise-cancelling headphones for flights" or "HR software for 50 employees".

Asks Perplexity (or Claude if Perplexity is unavailable). Free, no account, about a minute. Add your website and a link to it counts too.

The questions the check will ask

  1. Compare the leading standing desks for home offices and cite a source for each claim.
  2. Which standing desks for home offices do independent reviews rate highest? List your sources.
  3. Research standing desks for home offices for me: which names come up most, and why?

Perplexity (or Claude if Perplexity is unavailable) searches the web for each answer. An answer to the same question is shared for 7 days.

How people research purchases on Perplexity

People ask Perplexity to do the reading for them: gather reviews, compare specs, check prices and show where each claim came from. Every answer arrives with its sources beside it.

  • What do reviewers say about the durability of the top three robot vacuums?
  • Compare HubSpot and Pipedrive for a five-person sales team, with sources.
  • Which password managers have passed an independent security audit?
  • Which accounting firms in Toronto work with Shopify sellers?
  • Find the best-reviewed noise-cancelling headphones for long flights and cite the tests.
  • Which organic fertilizer brands are safe for vegetable gardens with pets?
  • Research coding bootcamps that publish verified job placement numbers.
  • Which boutique hotels in Lisbon do travel writers recommend for a quiet stay?

The check asks 3. On Growth, Rankli asks 50 of yours every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.

What Perplexity reads before it names a business

Perplexity is built to answer from the web. Its guide for site owners describes two visitors, and between them they decide whether your page can be read, named and linked.

  • The visitor that finds and links sites

Perplexity says PerplexityBot is designed to surface and link websites in its search results. It recommends letting it in through your site settings (robots.txt). A rule that blocks every unnamed bot blocks it too.

  • The visitor that reads while it answers

When someone asks a question, Perplexity-User may visit a page to help answer it. The response can then link to that page. A page behind a sign-in form or a bot wall is one it passes by.

  • Sources a researcher would open

Research questions pull in review sites, comparison articles and forum threads as well as makers’ own pages. When several of those name you for the same need, more of Perplexity’s sources point your way.

  • Being named versus being linked

Perplexity can name you from someone else’s page without linking your own. It can also link your page for one fact while it recommends a rival. The report shows both, so you see which you are missing.

How to get recommended by Perplexity, step by step

What three Perplexity answers tell you, and what they leave out

  • Perplexity searches afresh each time, so its sources and its names can change between askings. Rankli asks Perplexity every week on Scale and above, and reports how often you are named.
  • The check asks through Perplexity’s API. The Perplexity app has its own modes, such as deeper research, that read more pages and can reach a different shortlist.
  • Three questions are one angle on your market. Buyers who ask about price, durability or a rival by name are asking different questions, each with its own sources.
  • Add your website: a link to it among Perplexity’s sources counts as a mention, even when the answer spells your name differently.

Frequently asked questions

Does Perplexity show which sites it used?

Yes. Its documentation says a page it visits to answer a question can be linked in its response. This check lists the sites each answer read. Rankli records whether your page was linked as well as whether you were named.

Can my site settings stop Perplexity from citing me?

Yes. A rule that blocks PerplexityBot shuts out the visitor Perplexity uses to surface and link websites, and Perplexity recommends allowing it. Rankli’s free AI check reads your settings and names any Perplexity visitor a rule turns away.

Why does Perplexity cite a competitor’s page and not mine?

Its search found their page, and the page answered the question in words it could lift. Yours was blocked, missed, or buried the answer. On Scale and above, Rankli shows each question you lose on Perplexity and writes the page that answers it.

Which Rankli plans track Perplexity?

Scale and every plan above it ask Perplexity your questions every week, beside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Every plan asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and every Rankli plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

Is the Perplexity check free?

Free, with no account and no email. The 7-day free trial asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini up to 50 of your questions, and Scale adds Perplexity every week.

Find every question you’re losing

Rankli asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your customers ask, every week. It writes a page for each one you lose, publishes it to your site and asks again to show what moved.
