Perplexity rank checker
Type your business and what you sell. We put 3 buyer questions to Perplexity through its API and show whether each answer named you, your place when it recommends you in a list, who it named instead and the sites it read.
How it works
Three steps, about a minute
Step 1: Enter your business name, your website and what you sell as a buyer would research it.
Step 2: We ask Perplexity 3 questions that call for a ranked answer (Claude or Gemini stands in if it cannot answer).
Step 3: See whether each answer named you, your place in its list, who it named instead and the sites it read.
Questions where Perplexity puts names in order
People use Perplexity to skip reading ten review articles. They ask for a ranked, sourced answer, and the first two or three names it gives are the ones they open next.
- Rank the best accounting software for a construction company, with sources for each pick.
- Which three time tracking apps do reviewers rank highest for freelancers?
- What is the best-rated home insurance company in Florida, and who comes second?
- List the top cybersecurity firms for a mid-sized hospital, best first.
- Which standing desk brands come out on top in independent tests?
- Order the leading email marketing tools by deliverability, citing tests.
- Who are the best-reviewed estate planning attorneys in Phoenix?
- Which language learning apps rank highest for adult beginners, according to studies?
The check asks 3. On Growth, Rankli asks 50 of yours every week on Claude and Gemini.
How to read a Perplexity ranking
Perplexity does not keep a fixed index of positions the way a search results page does. Each answer is written from the pages it fetched for that question, so a rank is a reading of one answer.
Your place in a sourced list
When Perplexity recommends you inside a numbered or bulleted list, the check reports your place, such as #3. A name that only appears in passing is reported as named, with no place in the list.
The pages behind each answer
Perplexity searches before it answers. The check lists the sites each answer read, so you can see whether your own pages were in the mix or the answer leaned on other people’s write-ups.
Who it names instead of you
Each answer shows up to five other businesses it named, and the report counts how many answers named each. When the same rivals keep coming from the same review sites, those sites are where to be listed.
Why the order shifts
Perplexity searches again each time it is asked, so a new review, a fresher article or a reworded question can change the order. A single run is a snapshot, not a standing position.
What one Perplexity ranking check can and cannot show
- The check asks through Perplexity’s API. The Perplexity app has its own modes, such as deeper research, and can use a signed-in person’s history, so one buyer can see a different order.
- Three questions on one day is a snapshot. Rankli asks Perplexity your questions every week on Scale and above, and reports how often you are named and where.
- A place is only reported when the answer recommends you inside a list. Enter the name customers know and your website, so a link to your site counts as a mention even when the name is spelled differently.
- If Perplexity cannot answer at that moment, Claude or Gemini answers instead, and the report says so above the results.
Frequently asked questions
Does this checker ask Perplexity itself?
Yes, through Perplexity’s API. If Perplexity cannot answer at that moment, Claude or Gemini stands in and the report names the assistant behind each answer. Rankli’s plans that cover Perplexity ask it every week.
Is a Perplexity rank the same as a Google ranking?
No. A Google result has a position on a page of links. Perplexity writes a fresh answer and may name a handful of businesses in it, so your rank is whether you were named and where in that list. Rankli tracks it as a share of answers over many weeks.
Why does Perplexity rank a competitor first?
The pages it found for that question describe the competitor as the best fit, in words it could quote and cite. Often those are review sites or comparison articles rather than the competitor’s own site. Rankli shows which sources each answer used and writes the page that answers the question for you.
How do I rank higher in Perplexity answers?
Let PerplexityBot read your site, answer the buyer’s question in the first lines of a page, and get listed on the review sites Perplexity already cites for your market. Rankli writes those pages and asks again 7 and 14 days after each one goes live.
Which Rankli plan tracks my Perplexity rank every week?
Scale and the plans above it ask Perplexity your questions every week, beside Claude and Gemini. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that asks Claude and Gemini up to 50 of your questions.
