# Rankli > Rankli is an answer engine optimization (AEO) tool that gets businesses recommended by ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Every week it asks the questions your customers ask AI. It publishes an article for each question you are losing, then asks again 7 and 14 days after it goes live. > > Find the questions customers ask AI. Publish the answers. See if AI starts recommending you. Rankli is self-serve. Plans start at $99 a month, every plan comes with a 7-day free trial, and a card starts it. Write to hello@rankli.io and a person answers. ## Getting recommended by AI (AEO) Answer engine optimization (AEO) is getting your business named and recommended when people ask AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity what to buy. SEO earns a link in a list of results. AEO earns a mention inside the answer. The work is finding the questions your customers ask AI, publishing pages that answer them in words AI can read and quote, and asking again to see whether the answers changed. Trackers show the problem. Writers guess. Rankli writes for the questions you're losing, then re-asks. ## How it works 1. **Ask.** Every week, Rankli asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your customers ask. Perplexity too, on Scale and Agency. 2. **See what you're losing.** You see each question where AI recommends someone else, and who it picks instead. 3. **Publish the answers.** Rankli writes an article aimed at each question you're losing and publishes it to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or 7 more. 4. **Re-ask and show what moved.** 7 and 14 days after each article goes live, Rankli asks its questions again and shows you before and after. Besides the loop, Rankli lists what stops AI reading your site, such as settings that stop AI visiting, words AI cannot see on your pages and missing labels for your prices and products. Each comes with a fix: one click, or applied for you on Scale and Agency. Your own Google Search Console clicks sit beside the answers. ## What gets measured A round asks each tracked question of each AI assistant on the plan, and rounds run every week: - Growth: 50 questions on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, asked once each: 150 answers a week. - Scale: up to 150 questions across up to 3 sites on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, asked once each: up to 600 answers a week. - Agency: up to 400 questions across up to 10 sites on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, asked once each: up to 1,600 answers a week. For every answer, Rankli records whether it named you, whether it recommended you, who else it named, which pages it cited, and whether it answered from the web or from the AI's memory. The same question can get a different answer from one ask to the next, so Rankli reports how often across all your questions and weeks, never a single answer. 7 and 14 days after each article goes live, Rankli asks its question again, 3 times on each assistant the plan tracks, and shows before and after on the article: how often AI named you, recommended you and cited the page. A change counts only when the margins of error before and after do not overlap. On Scale and Agency, Rankli also compares questions it worked on with ones it left alone, so a change that came from the assistants is not credited to the articles. What it predicts is written down before the work starts, and the result comes with a margin of error. ## The free trial 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. The first AI round runs when the trial starts, on every plan: up to 50 of your questions, each asked once of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Weekly rounds at the plan's full size start with the first paid month, when Scale and Agency add Perplexity. Before the trial you add your site, pick the questions you want to be tracked on, and connect your blog. Rankli reads your site, drafts the questions for you to edit and plans your first month of articles. The first AI answers you see come from your trial. ## Checks on every draft Every draft passes 15 checks before it publishes, and 11 of them can stop it: a draft that fails one is held back and never reaches your site. The ones that can stop it: - 1,500 to 3,000 words, with at least 25 words under every H2. - One H1, placed first, and no skipped heading levels. - The main phrase in the title, in the opening and in at least one H2, and at most 2.5% of the words. - 2 to 5 links to your own pages, chosen from the pages on your site. - The article talks about what you sell, beyond the phrase it targets. - None of the phrases you banned. - No invented specifics: a percentage beside a claimed source, an academic-style citation, a dated study or a quote attributed to a person fails the draft. The other 4 lower the score without stopping the draft: the title delivers what it promises, the meta description and the title fit in search results, and the reading level suits a general reader. On a law firm's site, the legal advertising rules can stop a draft too. The same 15 checks run free on any draft at https://www.rankli.io/tools/seo-article-checker. ## Where it publishes Rankli publishes to 10 platforms, as a draft or live, whichever you set for each connection. Brand voice is measured from the customer's own text (pronoun ratios, contraction density, spelling variant, sentence length) and expressed as instructions, plus real sentences lifted verbatim as register examples, a banned-phrase list and a product list. 2. research_keywords: candidates generated from what the site sells, classified by intent (informational, commercial, transactional, navigational), clustered and ranked. Volume, difficulty and CPC fill in from your own DataForSEO account once it is connected. 3. build_calendar: a month's plan sized to the plan's article allowance, with 30% of it aimed at the questions the site is losing. Commercial or transactional first, intents alternated, cluster-mates scheduled near each other so they can interlink, no near-duplicate titles. Items can be rescheduled or skipped before generation spends anything. The first articles start generating when the free trial starts. 4. generate_article: written in stages (outline, sections, intro, conclusion, FAQ, meta) rather than one long completion, because voice drifts over a long generation and because a weak section should be regenerated alone. The stages run as separate jobs with the draft saved between them, so a retry never pays again for a finished stage. Regeneration always writes a new version; the previous draft is kept. 5. publish_article: to a connection the customer added and whose credentials were verified, and as draft or live per that connection's setting. Publishing is idempotent: a retry updates the existing post rather than creating a duplicate. Connections are verified before use, and verification answers two questions separately: do the credentials authenticate, and may this credential actually create posts. WordPress uploads images to the customer's own media library and rewrites the article HTML to those URLs, so a post never hotlinks images from our storage. A network error, a 429 or a 5xx is retried; a 4xx is not, because hammering a customer's site with bad credentials gets us blocked by their security plugin. ## Backlink exchange Opt-in per project, off until you turn it on. Host a relevant link in one of your published articles and earn a credit; spend a credit to have a contextual link to your site placed in someone else's. Credits are conserved (the host earns exactly what the requester spent) and every movement is a ledger row. The safeguards are in code rather than in a policy page: - A topical relevance floor of 0.35; a pairing below it is refused, not merely logged. - At most 1 exchange link per article. - At most 3 placements per hosting project per rolling week. - Direct reciprocity refused: if A hosts B, B cannot host A. - The same host may never link the same target twice. - The link is inserted inside a paragraph already on the subject, never appended as a "Further reading" block. If no paragraph is suitable, the placement is refused. - A request with no relevant host is refused, and the credit refunded. ## Reporting Clicks, impressions, average position and query-level movement come from the customer's own Google Search Console property, connected with their permission and read directly. The improvements engine acts on that data: at most two article improvements a week, each one aimed at a query the property already ranks for. Every number on the reporting screen is a measured one. ## API, CLI and webhooks A REST API at /api/v1, authenticated with a bearer key (prefix `rk_live_`, created in Settings then API keys, shown once) and rate limited per minute and per day, with X-RateLimit-* headers on every response. It covers products, keywords, articles (including generating one, pre-creating a future one, reading its markdown or HTML, and retrying a failed publish), subscription status and usage. `rankli-cli` on npm wraps the whole surface and speaks --json, so a coding agent can drive it. Volume, difficulty and CPC come back as null, never 0, when there is no measurement for them; code reading this API must check for null before sorting. Limits and endpoints: https://www.rankli.io/docs/api. The API and Stripe metadata name the plans by id: `prove` is Growth, `prove_plus` is Scale and `agency` is Agency. Webhook deliveries carry two independent authentications and a receiver checks either: an Authorization: Bearer header with the access token the customer set, and X-Rankli-Signature (v1=hex HMAC-SHA256 over ".") with X-Rankli-Timestamp, so old replays can be rejected. Events are publish_articles, update_article and connection_test, carrying id, title, content_markdown, content_html, meta_description, created_at, image_url, slug and tags; updates match on slug. Rankli is an answer engine optimization (AEO) tool that gets businesses recommended by ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Every week it asks the questions your customers ask AI. It publishes an article for each question you are losing, then asks again 7 and 14 days after it goes live. You see before and after for each article in your workspace. ### Which AI assistants does Rankli ask? ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on every plan, and Perplexity from Scale. Each week it asks the same questions again, so you see a trend rather than one lucky answer. ### Where do the questions come from? Rankli writes them from your site, your products and your competitors, phrased the way a customer asks an assistant. You edit the list. Plans track 50 on Growth, 150 on Scale and 400 on Agency. ### What does Rankli write? An article for each question you are losing, answering it in the opening lines, in your voice. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify and 7 more, as a draft or live. ### How do I know an article worked? 7 and 14 days after it goes live, Rankli asks its questions again. The article shows before and after: how often AI named you, and whether it cited the page. ### What else does it fix? The things that stop AI reading your site, such as missing labels for your prices and products, each with a one-click fix. Your Search Console clicks sit beside the answers. ### How does the free trial work? Every plan starts with 7 days free. A card starts it, and starting it is what first asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini your questions. It becomes your plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Growth is $99 a month for 30 articles, so you judge the answers and the writing on your own site first. ## AEO and AI visibility: questions From https://www.rankli.io/ai-visibility. ### What is AEO? Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the work of getting your business named when customers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity what to buy. Rankli does that work for you: it finds the questions you are losing, publishes an answer to each, and asks again after it goes live. ### Is AEO different from SEO? Yes. SEO earns a link in a list of results. AEO earns a mention inside the answer. Both reward a page that answers the question plainly near the top, and that is the page Rankli writes for each question you are losing. ### How do you get recommended by ChatGPT? Be the page that answers the question your customer asks. Rankli finds the questions where AI names someone else, writes an article that answers each one, and publishes it to your site. ### Which AI assistants does Rankli track? ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on every plan, every week. Scale and Agency add Perplexity. Growth asks 50 questions of each one. ### How is this different from an AI visibility tracker? A tracker shows which questions you are losing. Rankli shows them too, then writes and publishes an article for each one and asks again after it goes live, so you see whether it moved. ### How long before AI recommends me? You see where you stand the moment your free trial starts: Rankli asks your questions right away and shows each one where AI names someone else. Each article's questions are asked again 7 and 14 days after it goes live, with before and after on the article. ### Can I check my site free? Yes. The free AI check scores your site out of 100 on what AI assistants can read, with no account, and names the fix for each check it fails. Run the free AI check: https://www.rankli.io/agent-check ### What does it cost? Growth is $99 a month for 50 questions and 30 articles. 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. ## Rankli for stores: questions From https://www.rankli.io/for-ecommerce. ### How does ChatGPT choose which store to recommend? It recommends the stores whose prices, stock, reviews, shipping and returns it can read and compare. Rankli finds the questions shoppers ask and publishes a buying guide for each one you are losing, linked to your products. It asks each question again 7 and 14 days after the guide goes live. ### Which questions does Rankli ask for a store? The ones a shopper asks before buying: the best product for a need, where to buy it, and whether your store is worth it. Growth asks 50 of them every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, written from your catalog. ### Does Rankli change my products? Only after you approve it. Each product fix waits on your Fix list with an Apply button, so nothing reaches your store that you have not seen. ### Where do the product details in an article come from? From your catalog at the moment the article is written: name, link, images and attributes. A price or stock claim that is not in your catalog is not written, so the blog never contradicts the product page. ### How much does it cost? Growth is $99 a month for 30 published articles and 50 questions tracked every week. 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. ## Rankli for local services: questions From https://www.rankli.io/for-local-business. ### How does ChatGPT choose which local business to recommend? It names the businesses whose services, area, hours and reviews it can read and check on the web. Rankli finds the questions local customers ask and publishes an answer page for each one you are losing. It asks each question again 7 and 14 days after the page goes live. ### Which questions does Rankli ask for a local business? The ones a customer asks before calling: who is the best physical therapist in Austin, what a water heater replacement costs, and whether your reviews are good. Growth asks 50 of them every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, written from your services and location. ### I run one small site. Is 30 articles a month too many? The cadence guard sets a weekly number your site can absorb, from its age, authority and Search Console clicks: never above 7 a week on Growth. Your allowance goes into pages that get indexed. ### Nobody here has time to check a draft. What stops a bad one going live? Every draft is checked before it publishes. An invented statistic or quote, a banned phrase or a thin section stops it, and you can hold every article as a draft instead. ### What does it cost? Growth is $99 a month for 30 published articles and 50 questions tracked every week. 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. ## Rankli for law firms: questions From https://www.rankli.io/for-law-firms. ### How does ChatGPT choose which law firm to recommend? It names firms whose practice areas, location and credentials it can read and check on the web. Rankli finds the questions clients ask and publishes a guide for each one you are losing, under legal advertising rules. It asks each question again 7 and 14 days after the guide goes live. ### Which questions does Rankli ask for a firm? The ones a client asks before calling: who is the best employment lawyer in Austin, whether they need one, and what it costs. Growth asks 50 of them every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, written from your practice areas and location. ### Will Rankli write that we are the best firm, or promise results? No. A promised outcome, or “specialist” without a certification you stated, stops the guide from publishing. You can also hold every guide as a draft for your own review. ### Can we use our case results? Only the ones you supply. The writer never invents a verdict or a settlement, so what publishes under your name is what your firm can stand behind. ### What does it cost? Growth is $99 a month for 30 published guides and 50 questions tracked every week. 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. ## Rankli for software: questions From https://www.rankli.io/for-saas. ### How does ChatGPT choose which software to recommend? It recommends the products whose use cases, prices and comparisons it can read on the web. Rankli finds the questions buyers ask about your category and publishes an answer page for each one you are losing. It asks each question again 7 and 14 days after the page goes live. ### Which questions does Rankli ask for a software company? The ones a buyer asks before a trial: the best tool for their team, alternatives to the incumbent, head-to-heads and prices. Growth asks 50 of them every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, written from your own site. ### Can it write comparison articles against our competitors? Yes. A claim about another product is phrased as what their pricing page lists, and a check refuses invented statistics and quotes. That is a comparison AI can quote and your sales team can send. ### Our pricing page is built in JavaScript. Does that matter? Yes. Most AI reads a page before its scripts run, so a price drawn later is never seen. The free check measures it and the Fix list names the pages to change. ### What if the writing is not right for us? 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. You read the first articles on your own site before the first month is charged. ## Rankli for agencies: questions From https://www.rankli.io/for-agencies. ### How do I get my clients recommended by ChatGPT? Publish a clear answer on each client’s site for every question their customers ask AI. Rankli finds those questions, publishes an article for each and checks whether AI names the client, for up to 10 sites from one account. It asks each question again 7 and 14 days after its article goes live. ### Is there an approval step before anything reaches a client site? Yes. Each connection is draft or live, and you can hold every article as a draft for review. A client site only shows work you signed off. ### What can I show a client at the end of the month? The questions tracked every week on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, which ones they are losing, and before and after for every article published. Search Console clicks sit beside it, and the API and CLI export all of it. ### What happens when a client leaves? Their project stays as it is and you disconnect the CMS. A client who comes back starts from everything you already built. ### How much does it cost? Agency is $499 a month for 120 articles across up to 10 client sites, $4.16 an article, with no per-seat charge. 7 days free on every plan. A card starts it; on day 8 it becomes your paid plan unless you cancel, which is one click in the app. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged. ## Rankli vs Profound From https://www.rankli.io/compare/rankli-vs-profound.
