How the study works
We ask Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT one question for each of 14 jobs, through each assistant’s API with web search on, and store each reply as given. Only stored replies are counted. At most 15 questions go out a day, and each is asked again once its answer is a week old. The figures on this page come from Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT. Models: claude-haiku-4-5, gemini-3.8-flash, gpt-5-mini and perplexity fast. The answers shown were given between October 20, 2026 and October 20, 2026, and 7 of 10 searched the web before answering.
A tool counts as named when the answer puts it at the head of a shortlist entry or sets it in bold, or when the answer writes the name of a tool another answer named that way. The question, for every job: “Which AI tools specialize in [job]? Name the top ones.”

About the study and how the answers are read.
Where do these answers come from?
Each answer is a real reply from an AI assistant, asked through its API with web search on, the way a buyer asks it. We store the reply as given and count the tools it names. Nothing on this page is typed in by hand.
Why "Which AI tools specialize in ..."?
In our accountants study, Claude searched the web and named businesses when asked "Which ... specialize in ...", and answered "Who is the best ..." from memory without naming anyone. So every question here uses the specialist wording.
How often are the questions asked again?
Each question is asked again once its last answer is more than a week old, at most 15 questions a day. The page shows the latest answer from each assistant.
How do you decide what counts as a tool?
We read each answer the way our free visibility check does: the names that head a shortlist entry or are set in bold. A tool read that way from any answer also counts for every other answer that writes its name. Headings such as "Pricing" or "Key features", review sites and social platforms are left out.
