How the study works
We ask Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT two questions for each of 12 industries, through each assistant’s API with web search on, and store each reply as given. Only stored replies are counted. At most 24 questions go out a day, and each is asked again once its answer is a week old.
An agency counts as named when the answer puts it at the head of a shortlist entry or sets it in bold, or when the answer writes the name of an agency another answer named that way. The questions, for every industry: “Who is the best marketing agency for [industry]?” and “Which marketing agencies specialize in [industry]? Name the top ones.”

About the study and how the answers are read.
Where do these answers come from?
Each answer is a real reply from an AI assistant, asked through its API with web search on, the way a business owner asks it. We store the reply as given and count the agencies it names. Nothing on this page is typed in by hand.
Why these industries?
They are the industries where agencies that serve a single industry are common: dental marketing agencies, law firm marketing agencies, restaurant marketing agencies and so on. Those agencies win clients on the industry in their name, so whether AI names them matters.
How often are the questions asked again?
Each question is asked again once its last answer is more than a week old, at most 24 questions a day. The page shows the latest answer from each assistant.
How do you decide what counts as an agency?
We read each answer the way our free visibility check does: the names that head a shortlist entry or are set in bold. An agency read that way from any answer also counts for every other answer that writes its name. Headings such as "Services" or "Pricing", marketing channels such as "Local SEO", directories and social platforms are left out.
