The check asks Claude 3 questions with web search on, the way a customer's question reaches it: 1. What should I weigh up when choosing the right payroll service for small restaurants, and which names would you suggest? 3. When it comes to the best payroll service for small restaurants, whose name comes up most, and why? (Shown with the page's example values; the check fills in yours.) For each answer it shows whether Claude named your business, who it named instead, and which sites it read. An answer to the same question is shared for 7 days, and the report says when it was given. ## How people ask Claude for buying advice People bring Claude a problem with its context attached: team size, budget, what went wrong last time. They want the reasoning as well as the names. These questions show the pattern. - We are a 20-person nonprofit. On Growth, Rankli asks 50 of yours every week on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. ## What Claude reads before it names a business Anthropic documents three visitors that read the web for Claude. Two fetch pages for the answers people ask for. The third gathers pages that can shape what future Claude models know. ### The two visitors that fetch pages for answers Claude-User reads pages while Claude answers someone, and Claude-SearchBot works on the quality of its search results. Anthropic says blocking either one may reduce how visible your site is in those answers. ### Your site settings, rule by rule Anthropic says its visitors follow the settings that let AI visit your site (robots.txt). A rule that blocks every bot you have not named blocks Claude too. The free AI check reads your settings for each Claude visitor by name. ### Passages Claude can cite When Claude searches, its answer cites the passage it drew on from each page. A page that says who it serves, what it costs and why it fits, in its opening lines, hands Claude that passage. ### What Claude already remembers For some questions Claude answers from memory, with no search. ClaudeBot gathers pages for training future models. Block it, and those models learn about you from other people’s pages. ## What three Claude answers tell you, and what they leave out - Ask Claude twice and the shortlist can change. The Claude app can also use a person’s earlier chats and projects, which the API does not see. - Claude decides for itself when a question needs a search. A mention under an old name or a misspelling is not counted, so enter the name buyers use. ## Questions ### How can I see what Claude says about my business? Ask Claude the questions your buyers ask, with web search on, and read each answer for your name. This page does that for three questions in about a minute.
